In the current state of US healthcare, many uninsured Americans can’t afford to call an ambulance during an emergency. Some are forced to settle for calling Ubers instead of ambulances as transport to the Emergency Room.
To provide a community service and demonstrate the social benefits of their technologies, Uber will dispatch a fleet of autonomous vehicles to act as a free ambulance alternative until policy makers can provide adequate healthcare coverage for all.
ubER: Emergency Responder
A bystander or victim opens the Uber app to call for help.
Upon opening the app, the bystander/victim must consent to indemnify Uber against any harm or injury.
After accepting the terms, the user will be able to select the ubER ride option.
When the user selects the ‘ubER’ option, the Uber Emergency Response Vehicle and a municipal ambulance are siultaneously dispatched to ensure the safe transport of the victim.
